My mom is the US proprietor as well as lives with me all year long. we compensate for all of her expenses. She does embrace amicable confidence payments in Germany, though doesn’t make use of any of which income towards her vital losses during my house. She has no income in the US. Can we explain her as the dependent? What sort of explanation do we need to have to uncover which we yield for her?

How much is her German pension? If it’s more than $3,650, you cannot claim her as a dependent regardless of what she uses the money for. Only non-taxable Social Security (paid by the SSA, not any foreign equivalent) is excludable under the gross income test for a Qualifying Relative. If her pension is more than about 200 Euros a month, her income will be to high.

If her pension is less, you will have to prove that you provided more than half of her support. You’ll need your records of what you spent on her support as well as proof of what she did with her pension income.
